When Was the Last Time You Really Listened?
Every time I sit down for a shift with the Samaritans I’m reminded how many people are out there silently suffering.
It’s a privilege to be trusted with their words, and an honour to simply be there, on the end of the line, when they need someone most.
My speaking and consulting is here to help people face their inner voice. But sometimes that's not what you need.Â
If you are feeling challenged and just need someone to listen - to really listen without interrupting, advising, or trying to 'fix things' then use the button below to get in touch with the Samaritans today.Â
Contact the SamaritansAs a Listener, some of the conversations I have are truly extraordinary.Â
Not all of them.Â
Some are tough. Some are brutal. And sometimes, sadly, the service is misused. But when someone does open up, when they trust you enough to share what they’ve never said out loud, it’s an honour to hold the space for them.Â
For me, it’s like being in a mental and emotional training camp. You never know who’s calling or what they’re going to bring. You don’t know what state they’ll be in or what part of themselves they’ll share. But you show up. You stay grounded. You meet them where they’re at.
We all face battles, some are visible, most are silent. And the toughest opponent isn’t always in the boxing ring. It’s the voice in your head: the fear, the shame, the loneliness no one else sees. That’s why I created Mental Boxing - to help people face that inner fight. Because like in boxing, you can't win it alone. You need someone in your corner.
And sometimes, that corner just looks like a quiet voice saying, “I’m here, I’m listening.”
Can you Support the Samaritans in Their Life-Saving Work?Â
I've been a Listener for the Samaritans for many years. What they do saves lives.Â
And I know what it feels like to be at rock bottom too. That's why I'm there, every week, ready to listen to anyone who needs me.Â
